Criteria for
Admission to ULI
- The student must be
15 years of age or older.
- Full-time,
college-bound students must apply
for a minimum of 2 consecutive
sessions (4 months).
- The
student must fulfill all
the requirements of the application
procedure.
- Students must submit
all required documents for an
available session in a timely
manner.
- The student's
application must demonstrate
compatibility with ULI's missions
and goals.
ULI does NOT require a
TOEFL score for admission.
Deadlines
You need
to be aware of the following things
when you make your study and travel
plans:
If you are outside the
USA applying for a student visa:
- There is a deadline for
students who are outside the USA
applying for a student visa. Deadlines
are only applicable while space is
available, so apply early. Please
see our schedule
for specific deadline dates.
- After
you've submitted all
required documents to ULI, please
allow
4-14 business days to
receive your acceptance
packet from ULI by DHL
Express Mail (this
does not include times
when ULI offices are not
open). You should be
aware that we do not have time
to process applications for
the future sessions during our
break weeks between sessions
(when we are on vacation and
are testing new students for
the current session) and
during the first 3 days of
class of each session.
- If
you cannot attend the
scheduled placement test, you
must apply for a different
session. If you are
outside the USA and applying for
a student visa, you must request
to change the start date on your
I-20 BEFORE the placement test
date (the program start date
listed on your I-20). If you do
not register and attend the
scheduled placement test, your
I-20 will be canceled or
terminated. Check visa
wait times in the city
in which you will apply for
your student visa to make sure
you have enough time to get a
visa so that you can be here
for the scheduled placement
test.
If you are already inside
the USA:
- The
last day to apply is on the
day of the placement test.
- Transfer
students must complete their
transfer on or before the
placement test day.
This means that you must be
accepted early enough for your
former school to transfer your
I-20 to ULI on or before the
scheduled placement test. If
you do not attend the
scheduled placement test,
your
I-20 will be terminated.
- Anyone
applying for part-time
classes can take the
scheduled placement test,
but they will be placed on a
waiting list. They
will only be able to enroll if
space is available after all
full-time students have
enrolled.

Requirements for Applicants
With Other Types of Visas:
Priority for class
placement is given to full-time
applicants who have a student visa. Any
person who applies to ULI
without a student visa will be
immediately placed on a
waiting list once they have
fulfilled all the requirements
of the application
process. Is space is not
available
in the level in which they
test, the
applicant may choose to study in
a lower level of wait to study
in another session
B1s and B2s are not legally allowed to
study in the USA. An F2 or J2 applicant
may legally study 1-3 hours per day for
as many sessions as they would like. If a
B1, B2, F2, or J2 applicant
wishes to study full-time, they
should consider entering the
country with a student visa or
requesting a change of status to
a student visa. Please contact
the school for more information
about changes of status.
Requirements To
Concurrently Enroll at Both ULI
and Another Institution:
Students who want to enroll in a
degree program but are not
proficient in English may be
allowed to be concurrently
enrolled in classes at ULI. The
student should consult closely
with both schools to make sure
that the total number of hours
taken at each school is enough to
maintain their student visa
status. The student will be
responsible to follow all the
regulations for concurrent
enrollment at the institution
issuing the I-20. The student will
be responsible to enroll in
classes and pay tuition and fees
to each institution separately.
Both schools will share
information about the student's
academic progress.
