Special Opportunities to Learn English

Field Trips

We have various curricular and extracurricular activities planned throughout the year. All students take a group field trip each session to improve English skills and learn more about American and Midwestern culture. Some of the students' favorite group field trips include a tour of historic downtown Tulsa, the Philbrook Museum, the Tulsa Zoo, the Tulsa Fair, and International Day. There are also individual class field trips planned to places like the Tulsa City-County Library or for service activities. Some other group activities after school hours might include service activities, group attendance at baseball games, or free concerts.

International Connection

Students from Oral Roberts University's Community Outreach program plan many activities with our students during spring and fall. The ORU student also practice English with ULI students some days during lunch, tutor English during some afternoons, and may plan activities for our students outside of school.

Tulsa English Conversation Clubs

English conversation clubs allow you to meet Americans, visit American homes, and have conversations in English. You can find more information about the Tulsa English conversation clubs (sponsored by Welcomers International) on the Tulsa English Conversation Clubs Facebook page.

Tulsa City-County Library's ESL Tutors

An ESL tutor is a person who helps you with your English alone. The library's ESL tutoring program is a free program available through the Tulsa City-County Library system. You will need to apply for a tutor by calling the library's literacy office at (918) 549-7401. You will first need to take a test, and then the library will connect you to a tutor that will meet with you once a week.
