ULI Homestay Program

University Language Institute is a Christian intensive English school, supplying 25 hours of English language instruction per week. In addition to our primary purpose of providing excellent English language instruction, we feel that an integral part of our program is to provide a safe, loving environment for our students. Students pay $650 a month directly to their host family.

As a Host Family, Your Responsibilities Include:

  • Providing transportation to and from school every day
  • Providing meals for the student
  • Providing a private bedroom for the student
  • Spending time with the student
Students need to feel welcome in your family by what they observe and hear. Spending time with a student communicates that he/she is wanted and accepted in your home.

Take the Time to Make each Student Feel at Home With You by:

  • Helping the student practice English through conversation
  • Including the student in your life
  • Inviting the student to join you for family activities
  • Talking about their school day
  • Asking the student to help with cooking a meal
  • Helping the student with their questions about English
  • Hanging out together.
How to Become a Homestay Family:
  • Send the completed homestay family application to ULI.
  • ULI will call you to make an appointment for a home visit and interview.
  • ULI will contact you if it is possible that a student may be placed in your home for the upcoming session.
Applying to our homestay family program does not guarantee that you will host a student. Do not rely on hosting ULI students as a source of income. Generally, only one to three students request to live with a homestay family each session. We do not recommend spending money to fix up the student’s room unless you can afford it, and/or I have contacted you about hosting a student for the next session.

Please call or E-Mail ULI if you have any questions about our homestay family program. Our office hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to noon and 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
