Homestay Families for
Independent Students |
Some of our homestay families are looking
for more independent students to live with them because their
schedule is too busy. In most cases, you would still get to
practice your English, but it would be more like living in an
American house or having an American roommate than having a
homestay family. Here are some examples:
- A single lady wants a female student to rent an section
in her home that is like a small apartment. Rent is $400 per
month. The student should pay a refundable $100 damage
deposit. The student would buy and prepare her own meals in
the house's kitchen. The home is only 1/2 mile from the
school, so the student could walk to school every day.
- A busy family wants to host a student that has a car for
$450 per month. They will provide a room and food, but they are too busy to provide transportation
to school everyday.
- A family will provide free housing for a
female student. However, the student will need to have a car
to drive herself to school because the family will not
provide transportation and there is no bus route in the
area.
Please send an email to
uli@uli.net if any of these options interest you. |

If you are an American family that would
like to host an international student, you can find out more information
about our homestay program at the

Rent an Apartment |
|
There are many inexpensive apartment complexes located within
walking distance of the campus and near shopping areas and
restaurants. The cost per student varies according to apartment
complex and the number of people who share the apartment. Costs
below are approximate and for one student.
COSTS (estimated for 1 month for 1 person):
$450 - $600 ..... Apartment Rent (depending on size
and location of apartment)
$50 - $100 ...... Utilities (electricity, garbage,
gas, water)
$30 - $50 ........ Phone
$200 ............... Food (prepared at home)
$20 ................ Transportation (bus
transportation to school only with no transfers)
RENTAL INFORMATION
There are many apartment complexes within walking distance of the
school. If you would like to look for an apartment by yourself,
you can visit
Apartments.com. There are many apartments to choose from, but some are nicer
than others or easier for international students to apply for.
SUGGESTED APARTMENT
There are many apartments located within walking distance of the
school, but we want to give you information about our two favorites that are a
little farther from the school because they have better prices, better safety,
and better reputations. If you are looking for an inexpensive apartment for a short
period of time, our suggestions are either
Wellsford Oaks
or
Country Hollow. You can contact them for more information on their website.
You should ask about getting a student discount. Both are within walking
distance of a grocery store. However, because these apartments are both located 2-3 miles from the school, you will need to
buy a car or take a
bus to get to school. If you need to
rent furniture for your apartment, try Cort
Furniture. |
