University Language Institute is a
private Christian school and has high standards for the behavior and
appearance of its students. There are no exceptions.
Behavior
Smoking or drinking any alcoholic
beverage is not permitted in ULI facilities.
Clothing
Students should wear modest clothing to
class. Men and women may wear a nice shirt and nice pants or jeans.
Women may wear modest skirts or dresses. Very short shorts,
skirts, and dresses are not allowed.
Winter: Winters in Tulsa are cold
and windy with some snow and general dampness. Students should bring a
heavy winter coat, boots for cold and wet weather, gloves, and a neck
scarf. Winter months are November, December, January, and February.
Spring:
Spring months are mild and pleasant
and are usually in March, April, May, and June.
Summer: Summers in Tulsa are very
hot and humid. Summer months are July, August, and September.
Autumn: Autumn
is
mainly in October and is slightly chilly.
Chapel
All ULI
students are required to attend ULI's Chapel service on
Wednesday. You do not have to be a Christian to attend. Students
practice many English skills in chapel such as listening and speaking.
Attendance
Course Load:
According to US Immigration law, students who come to University
Language Institute on a student visa must take 4 or 5 classes
per day. Students that did not enter the USA with a student
visa should take only the number of classes allowed by their visa.
Absences:
Classes are held 5 hours per day, 6 days per week. Attendance is
required for all classes. Students are allowed 4 unexcused absences
without grade penalty. Students will lose 5 percentage points from
their final grade for each absence thereafter. Unexcused absences for
tests result in the student losing 10 points on the test. Excused
absences will be forgiven and do not affect the student's final grade.
Excused absences require a note or letter rom the student's doctor or
dentist or prior written permission from the director.
Speaking
English
Students must speak ONLY
ENGLISH during and between classes.
